The Ancient Theatre of Epidavros is one of the best preserved ancient theatres in the world. Known for its acoustics the theatre and the Temple of Asklipios are well worth a visit just 30 minutes away from Nafplio. During the summer, you can visit the theatre and enjoy a play, which is definetely a unique experience.
The birthplace of the now world famous Olympic Games. Situated in a beautiful location about 3 hours away from Nafplion. The city was founded in the 8th century B.C. and today it's extensive ruins are a must visit, including places such as the Temple of Zeus, the Temple of Hera and other such as the baths, houses and training areas. Also the Archaeological museum, that houses findings from the area and the Stadium which is but a few minutes away by car, are worth a visit.
Ancient Asini, a place not that well known but of archaelogical significance. Used as a port by Mycenae and referenced in Homer's Iliad as a departing place for Mycenaean ships heading for Troy. Situated on a headland at the end of Tolo, about 15 minutes away from Nafplion.
One of the wealthiest cities in Ancient Greece. Due to it's advantagious and stategic placement, it controlled all of the traffic to and from the Peloponnese. It's fortress up on a hill, the Acrocorinth, the ancient city at the foot of it and the port Lechaion, make up the city.
The Corinth Canal, an idea that started in 600 B.C. but with not much progress. It was eventually accomplished in the late 19th century. It separates the Peloponnese from the rest of the Greek mainland and was intended as a passage for ships.

Monemvasia also known as "The Gibraltar of Greece" or "The Rock" is a medieval town hidden from the mainland. A fortified town connected to the mainland by a bridge and only accesible by it, hence the name "Monemvasia" (in greek it means "moni + emvasi" which translates to only entrance).
Tolo used to be a traditional fishing village, when it began to get popular as a holiday destination. The history of the place dates back to the Mycenaean era, when as said before was referenced in Homer's Iliad, next to Ancient Asini. Now it is a great place for relaxation and well worth visiting for a swim.
The Museum of Natural History in Ligourio, just 5 km away from the Ancient Theatre of Epidavros. There are 6.000 articles exhibited out of the 22.000 articles it possesses. A very impressive exhibition considered to be one of the richest in all of Europe. The visitors will see fossils of 3 million to 530 million years old, from Greece and other places in the world.
